CBD LIVE RESIN SOFTGELS
Our CBD Live Resin softgels offer an easy-to-use, tasteless, portable form factor that allows for more accurate dosing. If you don’t like inhaled products or the taste of tinctures, this is an excellent option. Live Resin potentiates the benefits of CBD distillate by broadening the spectrum of the plant’s compounds formulated into the product and adding naturally occurring CBDa. As the market has developed it has become more common knowledge that broader spectrums are more beneficial than isolated and narrower spectrum products. With that in mind, we want to give you the best range of the plant’s medicine that you can get outside of a solventless extraction. The process of extracting live resin gives you a more purified and targeted product without losing all of the plant’s beneficial compounds.

WHAT IS CBD LIVE RESIN?
Live resin is a type of cannabis concentrate that has become very popular in recent years. In developed cannabis markets it is considered one of the highest-quality extracts that can be made (next to solventless). Like solventless, live resin offers a much wider range of the plant’s therapeutic compounds but the live resin extraction method offers a more targeted output than solventless. Solventless extracts include compounds that can add undesirable taste such as chlorophyll.
CBD live resin delivers a more complex and nuanced experience compared to other extracts since more of the plant’s compounds that work together in synergy are left intact in the final product.
We can look to the food industry and note that some of the most nutrient-dense vegetables and fruits available are those that are frozen (other than those harvested and consumed right away). As with live resin, this is because fleeting nutrients are preserved by the cold.
HOW IS LIVE RESIN FROM HEMP MADE?
To make CBD live resin from hemp plants, the plants are kept frozen throughout the entire extraction process. This means the plants skip the drying, curing, and trimming phases of traditional harvesting.
CBD live resin is either de-leafed in the field or immediately after cutting the plants down to leave only the hemp CBD flower which contains all of the important compounds that affect taste, aroma, and effect.
After the CBD hemp plants are de-leafed they are immediately frozen so they don’t have the opportunity to dry out. They are kept frozen when transferred to be the machine for extraction.
The standard method of extracting CBD and cannabis is done using plants that are hung to dry after harvest. Once dry the plants are trimmed. This is done by hand for premium extracts or using bulk processing methods like giant trimming and milling machines for bulk distillates. This is a brute process that handles the plant and flower material roughly which further damages the trichomes and causes the plants’ compounds to be lost or minimized. After trimming or milling the hemp or cannabis plants, the material is processed via C02 or Ethanol. In the end, many of the monoterpenes and other lightweight compounds that easily volatilize through heat and handling- are lost.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LIVE RESIN?
For those who appreciate the nuanced effects between strains and enjoy a more preserved plant experience, the benefit is a more flavorful and terp-rich end product. By preservation of the terpenes and trichomes, the true flavor profile of the cultivar can be enjoyed. Preservation of the cannabis and hemp plants’ trichomes also helps to keep cannabinoids intact, thus making live resin extracts more potent.
HOW TO CONSUME CBD LIVE RESIN
DABBING LIVE RESIN
Dabbing live resin is probably the most popular method of consumption. For this method, you will need a few things including a dab rig, a torch, an e-nail, a timer and a dab tool to handle the concentrate.
This method requires the most equipment for consumption so for those new to use, it may not be the best choice (and why our softgels are a great easy-to-use option that requires no special equipment) To dab the live resin you’ll heat your e-nail with the torch and place it in the nail, most likely something with a scoop on it, given live resin’s goopy consistency.
You’ll want to dab at a low temperature to preserve terpenes and flavors without scorching the concentrate—somewhere around 530°F.
VAPING LIVE RESIN
You can also put live resin in a dab pen, a device similar to a vape pen, except for concentrates.
Be sure to use a dabber tool to get the live resin into the oven or bowl of the dab pen. Then just adjust the temperature, press the button, and inhale.
TOPPING OFF WITH LIVE RESIN
You can also put some live resin on top of a bowl, joint, or blunt for an added kick.
HOW TO STORE LIVE RESIN
Keep live resin cool and in an air-tight container, preferably in a fridge if you can. This will preserve the terpenes and keep it tasting and smelling great for a while.
Leaving it out in the open with the lid off will expose it to air, light, and heat, which will degrade the terpenes and make it less flavorful. This will also cause it to dry out and harden, making it difficult to handle.
WHY IS IT CALLED LIVE RESIN?
Cannabis and CBD hemp concentrates are typically described by their textures and consistencies. Take shatter as an example, shatter is a hard and brittle end product that easily “shatters”. Badder/badder/batter (everyone wants to use something different) which is something like a thick cake batter (check out ours here). Live resin is a more malleable and resinous concentrate, sitting somewhere between a wax and a sauce—not quite taffy-like but also not too wet.
Live resin is typically darker yellow in color but can vary from light yellow to even white. Like all cannabis and CBD hemp concentrates and extracts, it is sticky and you’ll need a dab tool to handle it and alcohol to get it off of everything it touches.
Live resins tend to be potent with a lot of THC, and consumers love them because of their intense flavors and aromas which carry over from the original plant.
