You’ve heard of:

Delta 8– a cannabinoid that offers a subtler, less psychoactive experience.

Delta 9- the most common form of THC found on the market. Responsible for the well-known psychoactive effects of cannabis on the human brain.

But, what do you know about Delta 10?!

With more than 100 cannabinoids in cannabis, there are fewer answers than questions. But, as the market expands and gains the approval of more states, the domestic cannabinoids studies increase. A newly discovered compound, Delta 10 THC, is quickly gaining attention and interest for synthesizing with CBD. We have a feeling that this is just the beginning of tapping into its potential.

What is Delta 10 THC?

Delta 10 THC occurs naturally, in small doses, within the cannabis plant. Delta 10 may be extracted in its natural form. However, because the plant only generates small amounts at a time, most Delta 10 THC products available for purchase are synthesized from other cannabinoids.

Ever had an accident turned into something great?! Well, that’s the story of Delta 10. Delta 10 THC gained the attention of the industry accidentally.  We can thank Fusion Farms; a California cannabis company that purchased outdoor-grown cannabis with the intent to produce concentrate and oils. Fusion Farms had unintentionally purchased cannabis biomass from California contaminated with fire retardant. The fire retardant was due to California’s wildfires toll.

But, when Fusion Farms extracted and distilled the biomass, as usual, something out of the ordinary happened. To their surprise, unusual crystals formed in the distillate! The crystals did not represent any recognizable cannabinoid crystal structure. After several months of lab-testing, an accurate conclusion could still not be deduced.

Later they learned that Delta-10-THC formed thanks to fire-retardants used to control wildfires. Since, labs have started to produce higher volumes of delta-10-THC through “greener” methods. The popularity of adding Delta 10 THC distillate to CBD has grown.

Effects of Delta 10 THC

Delta 10 THC offers the same psychoactive effects as the common THC  found in Delta 9. However, studies have been able to direct slight differences. A study on pigeons showed that the “high” produced by delta-10-THC might not be as potent as a high from Delta-9 THC.

Unfortunately, like most newly discovered cannabinoids, there is minimal information about the potential effects of Delta-10-THC. While due to the strict regulations, only the states where cannabis is legal, have been able to explore the numerous possibilities as an alternative to pharmaceuticals.

Is Delta 10 THC legal?

The Delta 10 THC distillate at Hemp Collect is legal according to federal law and most state laws. However, do the research on legality in your area before using or purchasing Delta 10 THC. Our Delta 10 THC extract is 100% derived from federally legal hemp and does not contain more than 0.3% ∆9THC, thus it is in accordance with the 2018 Farm Bill.

It is important to remember that local laws and regulations may deem Delta 10 THC illegal in your state or territory.  Due to Delta 10 THC either being illegal or not explicitly legal according to state laws, Delta 10 THC distillate may be banned in the following states : Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, and Utah.

Will Delta 10 THC Show Up On A Drug Test?

It is possible. We do not have sufficient data to say anything definitively, but Delta 10 THC metabolites may have the potential to give false positive on drug tests looking for delta 9 THC metabolites. As a precaution, we do not recommend using Delta 10 THC if you need to pass a drug test.
